1. Who we are
Hearth of Ages is a mobile game published by JTR Labs ("we," "us," "our"), reachable at [email protected] or through our website at jtrlabs.com. This policy describes how we handle information when you use the Hearth of Ages mobile app or any related JTR Labs services (collectively, the "Service").
2. What we collect
2.1 Information stored on your device
The game stores your progress (board state, museum exhibits, story progress, settings) in your device's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us unless you actively use the optional cloud-save feature (see §2.3).
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we (or our service providers) may automatically collect:
- Device information: device type, operating system version, language, time zone, app version.
- Usage information: session length, levels reached, in-app actions taken, crash reports.
- Anonymous installation identifier: a randomly-generated ID that lets us measure aggregate usage without identifying you.
We use this information to operate the game, improve performance, and diagnose crashes. We do not link this data to your real-world identity.
2.3 Information you choose to provide
- Account & cloud save (optional): if you create an account or enable cloud save, we store your email address and an encrypted copy of your save data on our servers (Firebase, operated by Google LLC).
- Support inquiries: if you contact [email protected], we'll receive your email address and the contents of your message.
- Notification permission: if you opt in to push or local notifications, the operating system grants the app permission to display them.
2.4 Information from in-app purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive an anonymous transaction receipt to deliver the purchased item, but we do not see your payment card or billing details. Refer to Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle payment data.
3. How we use information
- To operate the game, save your progress, deliver purchases, and provide support.
- To monitor performance, fix bugs, and improve gameplay.
- To send local or push notifications (energy refilled, daily gift ready) — only if you opt in.
- To detect fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell your data to third parties.
4. Service providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the Service:
- Apple & Google — app distribution and in-app purchase processing.
- Google Firebase — crash reporting, anonymous analytics, optional cloud save and push notifications.
- Sentry — additional crash and error reporting.
- Cloudflare — website hosting and DNS for jtrlabs.com.
Each provider processes data on our behalf under data-processing agreements, and is bound by their own privacy practices.
5. Your choices
- Notifications: revoke at any time in your device's Settings → Notifications.
- Analytics: opt out in the in-game Settings → Privacy menu.
- Account deletion: email [email protected] and we'll delete your account and cloud save within 30 days.
- Save export/reset: the in-game Settings panel lets you export your save as a file, restore from a backup, or reset your progress entirely.
6. Children's privacy
Hearth of Ages is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under those ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
7. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Your rights (CCPA — California residents)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. To exercise CCPA rights, email [email protected].
9. International transfers
JTR Labs is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, regular security review) to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Retention
We retain account and cloud-save data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
