1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Rice Pop at jtrlabs.com/ricepopstudy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
These Terms are between you and JTR Labs ("we," "us," or "our"), the maker of Rice Pop.
2. Description of service
Rice Pop is a free, browser-based study timer that uses a rice-cooking metaphor to structure focus sessions. It includes ambient audio, task management, progress tracking, and optional installable (PWA) functionality.
The App is provided free of charge and without a paid tier, subscription, or in-app purchases.
3. Permitted use
You may use Rice Pop for personal, non-commercial study and productivity purposes. By using the App you agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App for redistribution
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or host a substantially identical copy of the App as your own product without our permission
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the hosting infrastructure of
jtrlabs.com
Referencing, linking to, or writing about Rice Pop — including in educational or review contexts — is permitted and welcome.
4. Intellectual property
Rice Pop, including its design, code, copy, and audio synthesis logic, is the intellectual property of JTR Labs. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved.
Your local data (tasks, notes, session history) belongs to you. JTR Labs makes no claim over content you create within the App.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
Rice Pop is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs
- Results obtained from using the App will be accurate or reliable
- Any defects will be corrected
Use of the App is entirely at your own risk.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, JTR Labs and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of study progress — arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
Because Rice Pop stores all data locally in your browser, JTR Labs is not responsible for data loss caused by browser updates, device resets, storage limits, or user-initiated clearing of browser data.
7. Local data and backups
Your session data is stored in your browser's local storage. We strongly encourage you to use the in-app export feature to back up your progress regularly. JTR Labs cannot recover data lost through browser storage clearing or device resets.
8. Third-party services
The landing page loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your use of those fonts is subject to Google's terms and privacy policy. The study timer app itself makes no external network requests.
9. Changes to the App and these Terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Rice Pop at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in the United States.
