1. Who we are
Rice Pop is a free study timer application made by JTR Labs, accessible at jtrlabs.com/ricepopstudy. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
2. What data we collect
We collect no personal data. Rice Pop operates entirely in your browser. There is no user account, no sign-up, and no server that receives information from you.
The application stores the following data locally on your device using your browser's localStorage API:
- Timer preferences (duration, rice type, bowl size, theme, ambience)
- Study session history (date, duration, rice type, completed phases)
- Streak counter and total focused minutes
- Task list and session notes
- Unlocked recipe cards and earned ingredients
- App settings (dark mode, sound on/off, adaptive pacing)
This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to JTR Labs or any third party.
3. Cookies and tracking
Rice Pop does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, or any first-party tracking technologies. We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other analytics service. We do not profile users or track behavior across sessions.
The only browser storage in use is localStorage for the app data listed above, which is first-party and local only.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
Rice Pop is free to use and is supported by advertising through Google AdSense (provided by Google LLC). Ads are displayed on the session-complete screen only — never during an active study session.
AdSense may collect the following to serve and measure ads:
- Cookies and your device's advertising identifier
- IP address (used to derive approximate location for ad targeting)
- Browser and device information (type, OS version, screen size)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
This data is collected and processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. JTR Labs does not receive or store this data directly.
You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ad Settings.
5. Third-party services
The landing page at jtrlabs.com/ricepopstudy/ loads a stylesheet from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) to display the Lora and Inter typefaces. This is a standard CDN request and may log your IP address per Google's own privacy policy.
Beyond Google AdSense and Google Fonts, the study timer application makes no other external network requests during normal operation.
6. Audio
All sounds in Rice Pop (boiling water, steam hiss, lid rattle, completion chime) are synthesized in real time by the Web Audio API. No audio files are downloaded and no microphone access is ever requested or used.
7. Children's privacy
Rice Pop is a general-purpose study tool suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal data whatsoever, the app is safe for children to use. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
8. Data export and deletion
You own your data and can manage it directly in the app:
- Export: Use the progress panel's export button to download your session history as a JSON file.
- Delete: Clearing your browser's site data for
jtrlabs.comremoves all Rice Pop data permanently. You can also reset progress from within the app settings.
Because data is stored only on your device, JTR Labs cannot access, retrieve, or delete it on your behalf.
9. Data security
Your data is protected by your browser's same-origin policy. Only code running on jtrlabs.com can read the localStorage entries written by Rice Pop. JTR Labs recommends keeping your browser and operating system up to date for the best security.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Because we have no contact information for users, we cannot notify you directly — we encourage you to check this page occasionally if privacy matters to you.
